Last updated: August 13, 2026

About this policy

Zoom Piano Studio provides online and in-person piano lessons from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. This policy explains how Zoom Piano Studio collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects personal information through zoompiano.com and related lesson enquiries.

Accountability

The Privacy Officer for Zoom Piano Studio is responsible for privacy compliance, questions, access and correction requests, and complaints. You can contact the Privacy Officer at info@zoompiano.com.

Information we collect

When you submit a lesson or contact form, we collect the information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, location or time zone, lesson preferences, availability, and message.

If lessons proceed, we may also collect information reasonably needed to schedule and provide lessons, communicate with the student or parent, process payments, and maintain appropriate business records.

Our website and hosting provider may process technical information needed to deliver and secure the site, including IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, timestamps, and security events.

Why we use personal information

We use personal information to respond to enquiries, assess lesson fit and availability, arrange trial and ongoing lessons, provide requested services, communicate with students or parents, maintain appropriate business records, prevent abuse, secure the website, and meet legal obligations. We do not sell personal information or use enquiry details for personalized advertising.

We collect, use, and disclose personal information only for purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate, with consent or as otherwise permitted or required by law.

Service providers and processing outside British Columbia

Website enquiries are processed by WordPress, stored in a restricted WordPress administration area as a delivery safeguard, and delivered to Zoom Piano Studio through Google Workspace/Gmail and WP Mail SMTP. The site is hosted and protected using SiteGround services. Payments or live lessons may involve the provider agreed with the student.

These providers process information on our behalf under their own terms and privacy commitments. Some processing or storage may occur outside British Columbia or Canada, where information may be subject to the laws of that location.

The site may include privacy-enhanced YouTube videos. YouTube may receive technical information when you choose to load or play embedded content.

Analytics, cookies, and local storage

WordPress, SiteGround, and related site tools may use cookies or similar technologies that are necessary for security, performance, administration, and basic site functionality.

Google Analytics 4 is optional and does not load until you select Accept analytics. If accepted, it helps us understand how visitors find and use the site and may process page interactions, session statistics, approximate location, and browser or device information. Google Analytics may use first-party cookies such as _ga. Zoom Piano Studio does not send names, email addresses, enquiry messages, or other form-field values to Google Analytics.

Your analytics choice is stored in your browser’s local storage so the site can remember it. You can change that choice at any time through the Cookie preferences link in the footer. Declining optional analytics does not prevent you from using the site or submitting a lesson enquiry. The site does not currently load a Google Ads measurement tag or use website activity for personalized advertising.

Consent and your choices

Submitting an enquiry authorizes Zoom Piano Studio to use the information provided to respond and take the steps you request. You may decline optional analytics without affecting lesson services. You may withdraw consent for other uses by giving reasonable notice, subject to legal or contractual requirements; we will explain any practical consequence of withdrawal.

Retention

Enquiry, student, and business information is retained only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, to maintain appropriate records, resolve disputes, or meet legal requirements. Analytics, email, security, and hosting records follow the relevant account settings and provider retention practices. Information that is no longer required is deleted or anonymized where reasonably practicable.

Safeguards

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to the information, including HTTPS, restricted administrator access, login-attempt limits, security monitoring, protected email delivery, and limited form data sent to Analytics. No internet, hosting, or email system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Children and students

A parent or guardian should submit enquiries for younger children and participate in decisions about their lessons as appropriate. Please do not send sensitive personal information through the public enquiry form.

Access, correction, and complaints

You may ask whether Zoom Piano Studio holds personal information about you and request access to or correction of that information, subject to lawful exceptions. You may also ask that information no longer required be deleted or raise a concern about how information has been handled.

Send requests or complaints to the Privacy Officer at info@zoompiano.com. Please describe the request or concern clearly and provide enough information for us to verify your identity where necessary. We will acknowledge and investigate privacy complaints, communicate the outcome, and take appropriate corrective action where warranted. If a concern is not resolved, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the website, services, providers, or legal requirements change. The latest version will show its updated date at the top of the page.
